This week's vote isn't the first time township officials have waived construction limits for the project. However, earlier this month officials announced the bridge's opening had been postponed to February due to the holiday season and a winter storm. Initially officials hoped to finish the project in November, then the date was pushed back to December or January. The project's completion date has been delayed twice. “While detours are disruptive and inconvenient, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel as the final concrete is scheduled to be poured next week.” “The Meridian Township Board and Township staff are committed to using every tool available to ensure that the Okemos Road Bridge reconstruction project is completed as quickly and safely as possible,” Meridian Township Trustee Scott Hendrickson said in the release. ![]() to 9 p.m., which is normally prohibited under township ordinances, according to a township press release.
